What was your perception of media before this lesson?

My perception of media before the lesson and even after hasn’t drastically changed. During our discussion, although I am aware of every click I made, my curiosity on how media controls and shapes our opinions, thoughts, and actions, appeared in a snap. Media, indeed, has impactful influence to us. Media has affect our society and real life as the growing of new technology nowadays become more powerful. Before, it takes time to deliver a word or a message to someone but thanks to technology, our everyday life has gotten easier.

What is your view on media now?

Social media platforms enable us to disseminate knowledge and instruction to people in a significant and widespread way. Social media, when used negatively, can be incredibly harmful to our mental health and has contributed to an increase in anxiety and social issues in our society.

What is the most relevant function of media? Why?

The most important function of the media is to disseminate news to the masses concerning vital occurrences or important information.Via media, children gain access to significant educational, creative, artistic, communication, and recreational opportunities that they would not otherwise have. For example, access to online books, pictures, blogs, documentary films and music enables kids to learn about different cultures around the world.

Can you recall a recent situation where media and information literacy could have been useful?

Every time I obtain knowledge from social media, media and information literacy has been helpful. Media and information literacy as a subject taught me to be selective about the information I obtain through various social media platforms and to be wary of the things I share there. I was taught not to post or share any significant information that might put me in danger, such as my personal information that others might misuse. You know, people of the universe, that as technology advances, media literacy and information literacy have become increasingly important. I can vividly remember a circumstance where media and information literacy came in handy for me and my pals.
